ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is about connection, longing and freedom. I convert emotions and moods into shapes, colors and compositions, inspired by memories, reflections, movement, nature and personal life events. Working with collage, dripping, and mixed media techniques I use various materials such as ink, acrylic paint, markers, oil pastels, chalk and pencil. Each layer I apply reflects my current mood and emotions. While the layers of paint dry, I take the time to feel with heart and soul. Because the layers of paint allow colors to overlap and play with each other, beauty is created magically. Negative space on the canvas are moments of transparency, giving a sense of freedom that enhances every splash and brushstroke.
I feel the need to express myself and let hidden beauty out. It is absolutely necessary for me to lose myself in painting & creating again and again, because it brings me 'close to me'. In the end my art is nothing more than a moment of contact between the viewer and me.

BIOGRAPHY
Bonny has been making beautiful things since her childhood. After completing fashion school (Nijmegen, late 1980s) Bonny trained as a hair & make-up artist. In the early 90s she achieved her big dream - to make a living out of it - by showing her make-up skills at various fashion shows, and on commercials, photo shoots and many TV series & productions. She also taught make-up, hair styling and drawing at various training institutions. She has taught hundreds of students and worked in many creative teams on different sets. Bonny created and illustrated Het Beauty Doeboek, which was first published in 2016. She is largely self-taught, although she developed her art skills by taking courses in fashion illustration, drawing and painting. In early 2021 she shifted her focus to intuitive, expressive and abstract painting. In 2021, Bonny studied with American abstract expressionist artist Ty Nathan Clark to further her technical, artistic and business growth.
Her work is for sale at several art & interior stores in Holland and at her studio in Nijmegen.
